Goals of Caritas of Vilnius Archdiocese: 1. To activate, educate and engage the church community of Vilnius archdiocese with merciful love and social justice. 2. To respond in actual and competent way to crises and social exclusion situations in the territory of the archdiocese. 3. To coordinate the charitable social initiatives in the archdiocese of Vilnius. 4. To encourage society’s involvement in solving global social issues. History Caritas in Lithuania has renewed its activity in 1989 - as women’s educative, civil and catholic movement. In 1996 it has been reorganized and integrated into the ecclesial structure. Since 1989 Caritas of Vilnius Archdiocese has developed a regional network of various charitable activities. Today the organization unites 46 centres and programs in the region and maintains the biggest social service network among the region’s NGOs. Caritas team in Vilnius Archdiocese consists of 120 professionals and 550 volunteers who work on helping in many ways15 different target groups in need.
